Baltimore City Public Schools, Maryland - co-developed, with the Superintendent, the nationally recognized Blueprint for High School Reform which resulted in over 20 million dollars in grant support and served as the catalyst for reforming Baltimore's neediest high schools. Provided technical assistance to Baltimore at the district, intermediary, and school level. Worked with eight schools to create effective smaller learning communities.
Baltimore City Public Schools, Maryland - supported and helped design the academic coaching model for 300 coaches in K-8 schools.
Business Institute for Educators (involving over 60 businesses)- involved over 1800 educators from 12 school systems in teacher externships geared at improving instruction and school-based partnerships. Managed and developed training opportunities and experiences for the business community and school system personnel.
Covenant House, Washington - Developed the Leadership and Pregnancy Prevention Program Curriculum Positive Choices. Created a train the trainer manual and delivered all related training.
Delaware Department of Education - provided training and support materials for school-to-careers transition, smaller learning communities, and advisory programs.
Detroit Public Schools, Michigan - served as the lead technical assistance provider for the small learning communities initiative for 10 schools. Continue to coach schools on an individual basis.
District of Columbia Public Schools - developed the original career academies at the District's 16 high schools and provided support to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education programs through workshops, training, the development and management of an advisory board, and in work-based learning programs for students. Wrote and delivered innovative integrated curriculum middle school programs. Coordinated the evaluation for technology and activities for programs focused on authentic learning and computer instruction.
Department of Employment Services, Washington, DC - served on the District-wide School-to-Work planning team.
Fort Wingate High School, New Mexico - served as the technical assistance provider for this Bureau of Indian Affairs School.
High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), - part of US Department of Justice's and University of Maryland's initiative to address issues of violence in communities. Services included sessions on academies, building national coalitions, building community support; and providing conference design support.
Houston Independent School District, Texas - served the District and 12 of its comprehensive high schools. Provided direct support in strategic planning; implementation of small learning communities; facilitated networking circles for principals, school improvement facilitators and small learning community coordinators; developed and delivered professional development and seminars; supported business and community partnerships and work-based learning; provided guided support focused on increasing academic improvements for all students through work with literacy coaches and department chairs; created and coached a school reform study process.
Indiana Department of Workforce Development - serve as an ongoing technical assistance provider and content coach for the Career Majors Institute.
Johns Hopkins University's Talent Development High Schools (TDHS) with Career Academies - served as a content specialist in developing the career academy component of the TDHS model and providing technical assistance to TDHS sites.
Junction City High School, Kansas - served as the technical assistance provider for the implementation of their small learning community design.
Louisiana State Department of Education and multi-parish support - provided the foundation and framework through research, evaluation, and focus groups for the development of the state-wide high school improvement process. Served as content coaches and keynote speaker at state-wide smaller learning community reform summits and teacher excellence programs. Provided school-based support to St. Charles, Lafayette, LaFourche, and New Iberia Parish Schools.
National Academy Foundation - partnered to secure successful grant funding for large urban school system.
Oklahoma State Career Technical Program - developed, wrote, and delivered on-line workshops for work-based learning and the development of small learning communities.
Putnam City Public Schools, Oklahoma - developed high school advisory curriculum manual and related training; provided technical assistance in all areas of small learning community development.
Sarasota Public Schools, Florida - support the Superintendent's NeXt Generation learning initiative through a coordinated effort of analysis, planning, and resource development. Working to ensure the successful placement of Career and Technical Education within the smaller learning community high school design; aligning curriculum; conducting data analysis; and recommending action for high school improvement.
Thornton Township Schools/District 205, Illinois - In coordination with High Schools That Work (HSTW) supported all levels of reform for three high schools as they moved to a small learning community design.
US Department of Defense - provided support in the evaluation of the JROTC Career Academy model. Wrote two middle school integrated curriculum models for the US Department of the Navy: Where in the World is the US Navy Today? and Aboard the USS Barry.
